Step One
The first step in whitening your teeth is to talk with Dr. Runion or his staff. Many times, tooth whitening done at home under their supervision may be effective, safe and convenient. On occasion, in-office bleaching may provide the best results. What we do know is that over-the-counter kits may contain chemicals that can injure mouth tissue if used improperly, or not professionally followed.
Usually Predictable
If you want to brighten your smile, talk to Dr. Runion about which stains can and cannot be removed through whitening. All necessary dental work to protect the health of the teeth should be performed before bleaching, but in some cases, whitening should be done before placement of final restorations. Dr. Runion can explain it for your situation. Whitening is a procedure that shouldn't be taken lightly (sorry for the pun), and should be performed or supervised by a professional.
All things considered, most of our patients who have had their teeth whitened think their brighter teeth are one of the most satisfying procedures they've had done!
