He has practiced in Kirkland, Washington since 1976. He is the former Chairman of the Seattle King County Children's Dental Health Month. He has worked in Appalachia and for the Indian Health Service, and volunteered in schools in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties and more.
He also had a five year, highly rated science forum on the Internet for a large local software provider, called Science Fair!
He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry where he graduated with honors. He did research on electric toothbrushes for children, oral medications, smoking and oral health, and took part in the initial manpower studies for dentistry before leaving. He taught at Clover Park and Bates Technical School in Pierce County, and briefly helped with Lake Washington Technical School. Dr. Runion is a member of the American Dental Association and the Washington State Dental Association.
Dr. Runion is married and has 2 adult children, both attended the United States Coast Guard Academy, and both are officers in the United States Coast Guard. He enjoys collecting fossils, minerals, artifacts and archaic pottery. He has shared his knowledge with Scout and School groups, led Lewis and Clark Trail Scout canoe adventures, high school hikes, bike trips, expeditions to Mayan ruins, and Montana dinosaur digs. His great loves include educating children on the importance of proper dental care and spending quality time with his wife Linda, daughter Jennifer and son Brian ( Runion family photo on the "Spanish Steps," Rome, Italy - April ).
